With fierce creativity and a sense that anything is possible in record making, Oakland California's eXperimental Dental School bring a warmth to chaos and an aliveness that cascade off the tracks of their latest release "Jane Doe Loves Me". The Guitar-Organ-Drum trio combines samples with one-of-a-kind instruments to create their own brand of art rock. Ryan Brundage’s fractured beats dance over a hurricane of Shoko Horikawa’s Casio riffs while Jesse Hall’s guitar lines bend like a broken down slurpie machine. Parallels can be found in Deerhoof, Devo, Captin Beefheart or even the surreal world of Fellini. While the band's music has plenty of schizophrenic fireworks, superb song craft is at the heart of the XDS sound. Since arriving in the States from Japan (and meeting Hall in 1998), Horikawa and Hall have worked tirelessly to carve out a sound that is both musical, and sonically unpredictable. The group shines in this area with melodies that bounce back in just the right place and structures that paint a beautiful picture-a picture that gets warped, chewed up and at times completely annihilated. XDS have 3 full length albums, releases on labels in the US, Japan, Sweden, Australia, Germany, Italy and Portugal, as well as an upcoming split 10"/CD with Melt Banana. They've undertaken four European tours and seven domestic tours, including a recent stint with San Francisco's Deerhoof. In addition, Deerhoof 's Greg Saunier also lent his talents in mixing and mastering "Jane Doe Loves Me". Mixed and masted by Greg Saunier (Deerhoof)
