Won - Out In The World

Out In The World by Won

'Out in the World' by Won arrives next. Another mean & tasty package, with a designer badge holding together an elaborate piece of minging green material which makes me think of a cheap 70's tablecloth or god forbid, CURTAINS! This is a collection of sweet, noodling (sometimes ambient) jazzy stuff. A little Django Reinhardt in parts, a bit hazy & psychedelic in others, you feel like you're on your holidays with this one. Makes me dream of drinking daiquir & lemon in a brothel. Or something. Anyway, this is largely refreshing, strangely familiar music borne from the twiddly fingers of one Sebastien Llinares and there's a mere 100 copies of it in the whole wide world so get with it! (must've run out of sodding curtains, aye!)

"Out in the World" is Won's first release for Eglantine, after his collaboration with Christophe Bailleau on "Free Bees Full of Light". On this solo-guitar record, he mixes jazz with ambient and post-rock influences to create absurd or sad pieces. These 9 tracks were composed at home: Sébastien would leave his guitar in the room, and would pick it up to record music every time an idea sprang. In that sense one could say they form a series of "sound polaroids" from his life.
