What the label says:

Charlie Cheeky (19), Rory Cheeky (18), Christian Cheeky (18), Thom Cheeky (19) and Ali Cheeky (19) became Cheeky Cheeky And The Nosebleeds in the summer of 2007.Fast forward six months and the band are about to release their debut single ‘Slow Kids’ (Released March 17th) and are set to go on the road with Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong. Shortly after finishing their A Levels the band first posted some songs on Myspace which is when they swiftly came to the attention of Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq. Huw played the demos on his ‘In New Music We Trust’ show and Steve Lamacq invited the band in to record a live session.

The five whiled away the hours listening to Ian Dury, The Ramones, The Moldy Peaches and ‘filthy French house music’ and reading Robert Frost poems. They wanted to form a band, a pop band, that was honest that wrote songs about their own experience of being young and British but more than that they had the ambition to become a band where there was no line between their music and their lives, their art and their aesthetic. ‘Slow Kids’ proved to be the first instance of their art permeating their life and vice versa when bassist Thom elected to have ‘Slow Kids’ tattooed across his chest on his way back from an all night party. Too “dinked from the night before” to go to a proper tattoo parlour he stopped at a place which he describes a “like a ‘Claire’s Accessories’ only with no accessories but the smell of Meths”. His tattoo actually reads ‘Slow Kios’ and looks like it was done by a 4 year old, which it may have been. Next they wrote the song ‘Fascinating’ with its refrain ‘She went to a party and she caught on fire’ (a b-side on the single) .

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
