Nottingham is musically on the rise with the likes of Late of the Pier, I Was A Cub Scout, Amusement Parks on Fire and Scout Niblett gaining critical acclaim and garnering a serious amount of dedicated fans in the process. The Recovery are without a doubt the band most likely to join that list and soon. Inspired by artists such as 65 Days Of Static, Mew, Smashing Pumpkins, and Elliot Smith their soaring guitars, vocal androgyny and epic pop can be viewed as a social commentary or simply an attempt to transform what Mogwai do in 15 minutes to manageable, tasty pop delights. In their early twenties The Recovery fuse melancholy ambience with towering rock ambition and where others have trodden lightly, The Recovery aim to leave a colossal footprint in 2008 with this self titled debut release. They have supported Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Raveonettes, Silversun Pickups, Cooper Temple Clause, Young Knives, Good Shoes among many others. They featured on last years Jim Beam Music Tour with Little Man Tate, The Motorettes and The Upper Room and feature on the Fred Perry endorsed Subculture music site as one of the bands to watch this year. ‘Huge, epic-sounding tunes - this is beautifully dark, melancholic rock music.’ BBC Radio 1. ‘This landscape of dreamy, thoughtful music will take you to another world and leave you there, lost forever’ Matchbox Recordings. ‘Uplifting melancholy that leaves your mind open to wonder….as inspiring as it is haunting’ LeftLion Magazine
