Lovin this Speck Mountain single too. 1st track 'Hey Moon' is a sweet, lilting thing with a clear, cyclic guitar & a delicious female vocal that lulls you into a very nice space indeed. A hazy harmonica eventually joins a sleigh bell cymbal whilst some subtle low end fuzz tone of indeterminable extraction pricks up your ears. That's how minimal & cleansing this song is! A pure, lovely tune that sounds like a slightly cheerier Mazzy Star. Flip over & the MS influence is even more apparent. Melancholy for sure but suiting the current campfire folk atmosphere. 'Stockholm' has some lovely warm organ, a Tindersticksy guitar & some charming whistling going on. For fans of Movietone, Broken Dog, MV & EE & beautiful sad songs. This'd be my SOTW but who knows? 7" on Peacefrog, home of Technotechnotechno.

‘Hey Moon’ is the first single taken from Chicago band Speck Mountain’s haunting debut album.
Already enjoying a lease of life as a US-import, the album ‘Summer Above’ has drawn comparisons to The Velvet Underground and Mazzy Star.     ‘Hey Moon’ is ethereal, magical and enthralling; dreamy, psychedelic pop-rock built on organ drones, shimmering guitars and singer Marie-Claire Balabanian’s soft, sedated, honey-dripped vocals.
“Perfect for those languid nights spent gazing at the stars as the evenings get longer” - London Tourdates.
“It’s languid, delicate stuff, filled with deceptively simple melodies and striking vocals, reminiscent of Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval” - Narc.
