Anglo-American duo Cath & Phil Tyler return with an LP of reinterpretations of various traditional folk songs. You've heard folk music before so I won't go into detail but these two are the real deal. Vocally the duo are fantastic and Phil's banjo work gives these sparse arrangements a bouncy urgency that keeps the listener tuned in throughout. This is the kinda thing you've gotta really sit down and listen to. It ain't no background shit you can tune out of, this is tentative folk balladry of the type you'll one day need when you realise all hope is lost and misery is your only friend. That's right, one day you're gonna need the dulcet tones of folk music, so listen up and show a little love yeah. Beautiful stuff executed with style and grace.
