John Cale - Slow Dazzle

Slow Dazzle by John Cale

After more than a decade spent in the USA, most prominently as a member of the Velvet Underground, and producer of some of the most important proto-punk albums of all time (the Stooges, Nico, the Modern Lovers), Cale finally returned home to the UK to continue producing, this time with Island where he began producing Patti Smith, the Squeeze, and Sham 69, among others. He also continued to write and play music as a solo artist and 1975’s Slow Dazzle, is his second release on his native soil, with guest appearances by fellow Island musicians, Brian Eno, Phil Manzanera, Chris Spedding, and Andy MacKay. With maybe just a drop of dark nostalgia for the good ol’ USA, the album features a tribute to both the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson (Mr. Wilson) & Elvis (with his totally ill version “Heartbreak Hotel”). Track listing - Side A: 1.Mr.Wilson 2. Talking It All Away 3. Dirty-Ass Rock ‘N’Roll 4. Darling I Need You 5. Rollaroll 6. Sylvia Said* Side B: 1. Heartbreak Hotel 2. Ski Patrol 3. I’m Not The Loving Kind 4. Guts 5. The Jeweller 6. You & Me* *bonus tracks
