This Is The Kit next. A French CD on Microbe called 'Krulle Bol' warms my cockles with pure strong female vocals over a banjolin (I'm a little unsure hahaha!) backing. Very pure is this, Gorgeous modern trad folk that moves me lots. The vocal harmonies are lovely, the simple instrumentation offering up a hugely complimentary & unobtrusive friendship for the dazzling voice on display. One of the sweetest folk albums I've heard in recent times. A true comfort. The absolute other end of the spectrum to Prurient indeed!!!

Un album qui semble au depart n'avoir rien d'exceptionnel (dans la suite des disques de folkeuses solitaires façon Scout Niblett et compagnie), sauf qu'au final, les différentes chansons se révèlent très attachantes. En plus , l'objet est très beau?

this is the kit is the project of kate stables, previously living in bristol and now based in paris where she was 'discovered' whilst touring and playing concerts in paris with the likes of the national, elysian fields, jose gonzales, clogs and jeffrey lewis. she was invited by the radio one dj rob da bank to do an accoustic session for the bbc's one music and rob's label sunday best released her '2 wooden spoons' single the stand out track from the 2006 'folk off' compilation. a multi-instrumentalist (kate plays the guitar, banjo, trumpet...) she will enchant you with the texture of her voice and stunning strength of songwriting. limited (500) hand numbered vinyl produced by john parish (pj harvey etc) on microbe records, france.
