certainly proof that francis is goading his ex  bandmates by writing songs that could have stood up rather well on a new Pixies album. the old melody, edginess and odd chord changes are back with the only thing lacking the dynamism  that the group brings to proceedings....francis occasional sloppiness and lack of quality control is still evident but this is the most interesting stuff he's come up with in many a year

Following on from the success of the “Bluefinger” album Black Francis releases a brand new 7 song mini album called “Svn Fngrs” on March 3rd. The album features an alternative mix of the brand new single “The Seus” which is destined to rip up airwaves across the nation As Black Francis, Boston and Los Angeles-bred Black was one of the architects of modern rock as front man of the Pixies, whose "loud-quiet-loud" dynamics, primal scream intensity and free-ranging compositional style exerted a huge influence on alternative music.  His solo recordings as Frank Black demonstrated his artistic restlessness, embracing alternative pop and avant-garde rock with equal fervour; he continued exploring this territory with a new band, The Catholics, for several years before journeying to Nashville to create two critically-acclaimed albums with producer Jon Tiven -2005's "Honeycomb" and the more intense, upbeat "Fast Man Raider Man" in 2006.
