The Third Man - Before We Begin EP

Before We Begin EP by The Third Man

4...according to our on Thu 06 Mar, 2008.

The Third Man: 'Before We Begin' (Ai) This is deep four to floor techno/house, well produced with all the key references: warm washes and keyboard lines, driving beats, handclaps that utilise all the right presets provided by Mr Roland and others.I'm guesssing the third man is of Scots origin, with titles referencing the Lothian region. That said, this collection fits rather neatly next to Pub's outer edge textures. If you like classic Tech/House producers like Robert Hood etc or the sort of stuff still creeping out of Berlin and Detroit then you'll like this full sounding dancefloor aimed missive. Nowt groundbreaking, just well crafted with depth and pinpoit clarity of approach.

BIOG - AI Press Release:

"Although The Third Man (Toby Leeming, 26) is a born and bred Londoner, his musical roots lie in Scotland where he lived for 4 years whilst studying at University. During this time he met dj’s, producers and promoters and not happy just watching others ply their trade he started to teach himself how to dj. On borrowing a friends laptop with a copy of Reason on he began to explore the capabilities of music programming and digital sounds.

Surrounded by regular techno nights featuring the likes of Stephen Brown, Neil Landstrumm, DJ Rolando and many more his taste was very much slanted towards all things techno and particularly the classic Detroit sounds. However after many all night trips to the Arches, it became apparent that north of the border people liked their music that little bit harder and this was something he couldn’t resist embracing taking to the more industrial sounds of Surgeon, Monolake and minimalist legends such as Robert Hood and Jeff Mills.
