'Goldfrapp’s Seventh Tree makes you feel like spring's already arrived'
Observer Music Monthly November 2007

'Goldfrapp have delivered one of the first great albums of 2008'
Music Week 29 October 2007

Genre-busting pop pioneers GOLDFRAPP release their fourth album, ‘Seventh Tree’ through Mute on February 25th 2008. ‘Seventh Tree’ is written by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and was recorded at their own studio deep in the English countryside.

‘Seventh Tree’ follows up the platinum-selling and critically acclaimed ‘Supernature’ album which came out in summer 2005 and went on to sell over a million copies worldwide. From the captivating electronic balladry of Mercury nominated debut ‘Felt Mountain’ and its dancefloor-burlesque follow-up, ‘Black Cherry’, Goldfrapp have consistently surprised and delighted with each new album, adeptly bodyswerving both stereotypes and imitators alike.

If ‘Supernature’ was airbrushed in bold strokes of glitterball glamour, ‘Seventh Tree’ is its sensual counterpoint. Where its predecessor came cocooned in style and sex, ‘Seventh Tree’ emerges gilded in the butterfly colours of an English surrealism shared from Lear to Lennon. It shimmers and shines with the warmth of a hazy summer, an electric whirlpool of sound over which Alison’s glistening voice soars.
Alison Goldfrapp says “Seventh Tree is English romanticism with a hint of California sunshine.” while Will Gregory describes the album as “Heartache dressed in ten louche outfits’.

Goldfrapp are widely acknowledged as modern musical treasures - amongst their most creative and imaginative contemporaries they present albums, live shows and imagery in a self-created, ambitious and consistently uncompromising way. Alison Goldfrapp has become a modern-day British icon, providing musical and visual inspiration for countless other artists.

The deluxe CD / DVD edition of Seventh Tree comes in a clam-shell box, containing the CD album and a DVD featuring a film about the making of the album, featuring interviews, comments and footage shot by Alison and her neice Francis Kennard, and edited by the Bafta-winning creative agency, Hi-Res.  The DVD also features the A&E video.  The deluxe edition also comes with a handwritten lyric book, fold-out poster, and art cards.

About the humble LP:

The LP is the daddy of formats. 12" inches of sheer joy. The LP adds to the glory of the 12" record as it can be played at a slower speed (33rpm instead of the usual 45rpm for singles), consequently more musical joy can be had. Played on a decent deck the sound of an LP is about a million times better than any other format. They look fantastic...... a nice gatefold sleeve with a information rich inner sleeve will keep you entertained for hours even before your stylus has chance to make eye contact with it's 12" prey. An essential part of musical heritage which will never be forgotten. It still does play at a multitude of speeds but as it's recorded to be played slower they normally sound ridiculous sped up. Though double albums can make up for this slight inadequacy by ramming more tunes into your ears for your money. Utterly essential.
