Vampire Weekend:'A-Punk' 7" (XL) Second UK single from the preppy purveyors of bright sky pop. Two tracks from the debut long player the flipside being an exclusive 'rehearsal version'. The lead track features jangly African Highlife style guitars, skipping hyperkinetic drums and a flute (or keyboard) sound that drifts over the top. The references to African music and their admittance to its influence is just. Comes complete with a CD sealed inside.

‘A-Punk’ follows the success of Vampire Weekend’s limited edition debut single ‘Mansard Roof’, which sold out within days and was a big hit with critics and fans alike. The single will also be accompanied by a brilliant Hammer & Tongs-produced video which the band describe as “jittery Charlie Chaplin meets The Mighty Boosh” (Vampire Weekend got into The Mighty Boosh on a transatlantic flight to the UK last summer, a trip that resulted in them signing with XL Recordings).
