Hatcham Social seem to be very popular at the moment. Their 'So Happy Making' 7" on Loog has just found its way to me.. I reckon if they made as much effort with their music as they do with their hair then the results would better than this fairly average single. It's not terrible by any means but there's nothing that grabs me. Pretty bog standard guitar indie. The B-side is far more entertaining with its funky bassline and off kilter arrangement. Defo head for the B-side on this one. Ltd 7" only. What the label says: New LIMITED 7" from Loog. Reasons why LOOG love this single. 1. It sounds like Where The Wild Things Are, Alice In Wonderland, Orange Juice, The Pastels and The Jesus And Mary Chain. 2. It was produced by The Horrors' Faris Badwan. 3. It's brilliant.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
