Kid Kishore - The Social Club Nº 9

The Social Club Nº 9 by Kid Kishore

3...according to our on Thu 06 Mar, 2008.

Kid Kishore: 'Klap Perker' (Social Registry) Social Club no.9 series 7" single limited to 750 as above. Keeping up with their anything goes approach, K K's contribution is a stripped down preset drums and nagging, cut-up rap about some powder. The next couple of tracks (there's four in total) add a bit of bass and a female vocal intoning much the same as the latter cut-up rapper. To close; a sitar is place amongst some tightly executed beat chops and vocal skips.

This is the ninth release in The Social Registry’s ongoing series aptly titled The Social Club. Dispatched monthly via letter-pressed/ limited edition 7-inch vinyl and digital distribution, this series presents a full musical array: the established and the obscured, the noisy and the delicate, the tempered and the experimental. Copenhagen native of Indian descent Kid Kishore strikes a balance between old and new, blending the sounds of India with the electronic music that permeates Denmark. Self-described as anything from “Danish ghetto-tech” to “golden age Bollywood,” his beat-heavy sound is a scattershot mix of musical styles from all over the sonic landscape. Noted for his wildly energetic live shows, on this 7-inch Kid Kishore manages to cram everything he does best on this short format, even including an alternate take of the hard driving fast song ‘Klap Perker’ on the second side of the disc. The songs here are a great introduction to this woefully unheard artist, managing to showcase the many facets of his exciting hybrid style.
