OVERVIEW: Smashing Pumpkins will release an acoustic EP entitled 'American Gothic' on February 11th on Martha's Music/Reprise. 'American Gothic' collates four exclusive new tracks that were recorded in Pass Studio in Los Angeles when the band were taking a break from touring. Produced by Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin (with one track co-produced by Roy Thomas Baker), the EP features the songs 'The Rose March', 'Pox', 'Again Again Again (The Crux)' and 'Sunkissed'. "We have always regretted not recording more in between tours because albums have never caught the full story of the group...it's sort of 'Zeitgeist' plus," said Corgan of 'American Gothic', the title of which is "continued comment on the state of our country". The release of 'American Gothic' coincides with the band's upcoming arena tour, the dates of which run as below. Smashing Pumpkins made a rapturous return to the live arena with a number of low-key shows across North America and Europe. Kerrang! described the Paris show as "stunning" whilst the band also received unanimous praise for their Shepherds Bush Empire show that sold-out immediately. They also proved to be a highlight of the Carling Weekend with strong performances at their headline slot at both sites. 'Zeitgeist' entered the UK album charts at # 4 and proved to be a worldwide hit. To date it has yielded two singles, 'Tarantula' and 'That's The Way (My Love Is)'.
