0>1: 'Greaterthanset' EP (October Man) As you can probably guess from the non de plume of the artist this is a electronic music release. Plumbing the vectors between the minimalism of labels like Raster Noton and 12k, this release begins in a slow motion animatronics vein.Visions of giant digital insects, electronic storms and the staccato dynamics involved when you place quiet sounds betwixt loud sounds- bass against clicks. Melodies start to creep through the mix, summoning up influences that stretch to labels like Skam and Merck through to soundtrack style isolationism brewed up from found sound high end tones. This is quite short for a five track ep but does enough to suggest that with a little more consideration it could be greater than good.Silence, clicks, scrabblings, scrapes and ambient noises, all mixed in with some lovely music. A printed cdr designed and made by Cheju with a glossy photographic sleeve.
