What we say
This record left our Mingus Rude feeling happy.
Luga: 'Sending Triangles' (Distant Noise) This nine track collection of electronica adds to the growing legion of laptop composed music brought about through the readily available, cheap software and plug-ins made possible due to technology's steady growth. Taking in a wide range of influences, from shoegaze, breaks, folk and melodic-at time glitchy- electronica, one track boasts vocals. A limited edition housed in a brown cardboard sleeve and hand numbered, these tracks remind me of stuff on Attack Nine. Lacking the wobbly keyboard lines of Freescha but retaining the warmth of Milieu, those that like their electronica spacious and glowing will warm to this.
What the label says:
Following on from his release on VU-US records in Belgium Luga is back with his second cdr release, this time being the first release on new label Distant Noise Records.
Luga resides in Brighton in the south of England; where he has lived for the past 8 years. Luga draws his inspiration from the people and life around him, not conforming to the genres of popular culture.
Sending Triangles continues where Bound By Indifference left off, mixing gorgeous electronics with a smart rhythm section. The album clearly shows Luga’s influences.
Discography: Bound By Indifference: Released July 2007 (vu-us)
Another excellent release from -Scaldis-'s own VU-US label. Taking a chilled out and nicely electronic feeling with a melodic and organic texture. Most of the rhythms are on the downbeat tip (I hate to mention Boards of Canada, but it seems somehow appropriate!) and the layered up sounds use various influences, from guitars right through to synths. It's a musical album and sits very happily next to the work of labels like Boltfish and U-cover, albeit with a more accessible (kind of) style. Very pleasing indeed and one to check.

Each release will be limited to 100 copies and presented in card wallets with a colour sticker on the front, giving all the information. The artwork for the series will be created by Ben Curzon (Planet Mu, Make Mine Music, amongst others), and the 12 CDR covers, once seen together, will form one image.
