What we say

Rating: unmoved This record left our Phil feeling unmoved.

Anni Rossi has a limited 7" on Too Pure called Wheelpusher. All hand numbered and that... Regina Spektor has a lot to answer for.... We seem to be awash with slightly quirky female vocalists at the moment..... It's not bad at all... I've just had my fill.

What the label says:

The monthly too pure singles club carries on apace with the first installment for 2008: a new American import to these shores, Anni Rossi.

“It’s not a violin, it’s a viola.”

Hailing from Minnesota via Chicago and LA, the virtuoso performer Anni Rossi is just twenty-two years old and like fellow avant-folk artists Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom before her, is starting to make quite a name for herself. A self-proclaimed “classical kid gone viola pop wunderkind”, the multi-instrumentalist stamps her feet, clicks her tongue and lures her audience into quiet, open-mouthed submission.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.

'does that came with pineapple and egg or do I have to choose one of them?'
