What we say

Rating: unmoved This record left our Brian feeling unmoved.

And talking of Radiohead, here's Jigsaw Falling into Place. The new single and 1st for XL and I was so wanting Mingus to review this. It's kinda strummy, dreamy Radiohead by numbers with an impassioned wail from Tom York and some nifty guitars over a drumbeat played on some drums that goes really nicely with the strummed guitars. This is what all the electronica haters have been waiting for. A Radiohead song with no laptop jazz & squiggle & glitch all over it. I keep on playing it but it slips off the sides and I cannae remember much about it. A harmless bit of obvious fluff from a band who've got much stronger ideas than this and they just know it. Number three in the charts for two weeks, my prediction. CDs & 7" both with Maida Vale live tracks performed by the funny wonky straw hair dude with the lazy eye

What the label says:

·‘Jigsaw Falling Into Place’ has been hailed as one of the real standouts on ‘In Rainbows’ – an album discussed more than any other in recent years.·Available on CD single and 7” vinyl.  ·Both formats feature live performances taken from the television show ‘From The Basement’ and are unavailable anywhere else in audio format.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
