Stranger Son Of WB - Snakes!

Who are Stranger Son of WB? Well, apart from being the best band in Manchester, they have
been busy releasing a 7” on London’s respected Marquis Cha Cha label, playing with the likes of
Kling Klang, Part Chimp, Liars, Joe Lally (Fugazi) and Zu - and even found the time to record a

session for Marc Riley’s BBC 6 Music radio show. This 7” contains three older tracks which
capture the band in all their Northern glory. Frontman Gareth Smith takes care of vocals, sax
and keyboards, while bass, guitars and drums help to hold the two songs here together. With a
sense of urgency found in bands such as The Fall, along with enough free-jazz sax wailing to
keep them out of the charts, Stranger Son of WB could make you proud to be English once
again.
