Also on This is Fake DIY is a 7" by Stuffy/ The Fuses called Metal Queen Theme which I prefer out of the 2 releases on the label this week. More indie rock gear though this has a certain charm.... the boy girl vocals work a treat and weirdly enough I'm reminded of earlier Dandy Warhols. That kind of shenanigans.... a local band I believe as well. Maybe I'll go and see them if they're playing at a local drinking hall somewhere near my house (it would have to be very near as I barely step foot outdoors these days).A. Metal Queen Theme
AA. Sir Wants Sex
Boy-girl vocals, fake hand claps, power pop choruses, huge drums, epic keyboards, and Pixies-esque rock majesty. It can only be Stuffy/TheFuses.
Music vampires, evil empires, and, er, demands for sex all feature on this double A side single from Stuffy/The Fuses’ new album ‘Angels Are Ace’, recorded by little known knob twiddler Steve Albini. It will be released through This Is Fake DIY Records on Monday 3rd December on limited edition 7” vinyl and as digital download.
Their debut single from the album, ‘Ahhhh Song’ scored airplay on Jonathan Ross’ Saturday morning Radio 2 show courtesy of fan DJ Mark Lamarr, as well as plays across Radio 1 and 6 Music from Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Chris Hawkins and Mark ‘Lard’ Riley.
Playing sweaty dancehalls up and down the country, the London four-piece have wowed crowds with their rampantly joyous exuberance, with extra gusto and bashful charisma from the Ritalin deprived front-man/drummer Stuffy (oft nicknamed ‘a sort of loveable drumming bear’).
Stuffy/The Fuses are: Stuffy (vocals, drums), Jen Fuse (guitar, vocals) Jon Fuse (bass, vocals), Lucy Fuse (keyboards, vocals).
