Mammal - Lonesome Drifter

Lonesome Drifter by Mammal

This here Mammal ' Lonesome Drifter' is brilliant. It's a slow heavy distorted slug fest. A masterclass in low end distortion and drawn out notes. It's a grubby murky album reminding me of The Melvins where they to have a drum machine insted of Dale Crover. The beats are sparse though. You get occasional bursts of sad loner songs and the way it breaks up the album between some huge walls of noise reminds me of the Kites 'Peace Trials' album on Load. A huge recommendation from moi. 2LP and CD on Animal Disguise.

RECORDED DURING 6 MONTHS OF ISOLATION AT HIS HOME IN DETROIT, MAMMAL'S 4TH FULL LENGTH ALBUM 'LONESOME DRIFTER' IS AN EPIC SOUNDTRACK FOR THE INDUSTRIAL DEPRESSION OF THE CITY. HEAVY, BROODING, PSYCHEDELIC, LONER BLUES. "THIS IS BOTH THE END AND THE BEGINNING." EASILY ALIGNED ALONGSIDE FELLOW MICHIGANITES WOLF EYES, YET MAMMAL HAS A MORE REPETITIVE METALLIC INDUSTRIAL DIRGE EMANATING FROM THE GROOVES, IMAGINE BIG BLACK SLOWED RIGHT DOWN IN TEMPO AND TUNING AND THEN TANGERINE DREAM FOR SOUNDSCAPE IMAGERY, DISTORT THAT WITH THE BLEAK OUTLOOK OF MY DAD IS DEAD, AND MAMMAL COMES INTO VIEW. DELUXE DOUBLE VINYL AND CD FORMATS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
