Dead Kids: 'Fear and Fluoride' (Salvia) Hot on the heals of the Laura Groves 7" comes something totally contrasting. Rollicking, thrashy punk-pop as opposed to the fashionable folk genre. Coming on like a version of Bloc Party with a sloganeering agenda, it's a prime time slice of pop that'll get the kids up on the floor betwixt yer nu-grave wonders. The tap water debate rages.A pounding, bass heavy dancefloor prostest song, or so singer Mike claims: "Bands like ours bring energy to make people happy, it's not about shock, it's about connecting. Shychild, Chromeo, Man Like Me, Duran Duran, these are bands you wanna hear at a party. We're not anti-drugs, we are anti-comedown". And as well as the water fluoridation conspiracy, “Fear and Fluoride” is a strident admission to intoxication and paranoia.
These guys are proud to trumpet their influences: Suicide ("they make you feel like you're on drugs when you're not, which is a beautiful thing"), Prince ("If you're gonna have sex with a man, it must be him"), Rick James ("he was so dangerous that he wouldn't try to shag your girlfriend, he'd kidnap her") and CSS ("I really liked them until she got married").
When not doing themselves and audiences damage around LDN, Dead Kids can be found sharing bills with Holy Fuck or Fujiya & Miyaji, at home and on the continent.
