Rating: ecstatic This record left E. Sotela (USA) feeling ecstatic.

Belgium's newly founded label, Plague Recordings, has brought to us one incredible dark ambient sounding release. The packaging alone, this is a strictly hand numbered release, is unique. For the last week I've put this CD on before going to bed and find myself falling asleep about halfway through track #2. Track#2 makes me feel like I'm at some futuristic subway preparing to board a sleek train. Last night, I put on track #3 first for a change. This track has icy sounds that are suitable for the current cold weather. For me, track#1 is the stand out with its opening eerie sounds, conjuring up some form of metallic beast. These sounds signal the start of an incredible journey through an ambient labyrinth. After 69 minutes of soothing beat-less sound-scapes, I find myself in deep sleep. Good night.

What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Ant feeling happy.

Plague Recordings have reissued their anonymous debut release. 'May The Plague Be With You' is their brand of sinister dark future ambient, brooding Sci-fi electronics and murky soundscapes with occasional bursts of light. Silkscreened CDr in graphite ejector case. Three tracks all at running times of twenty three minutes. I detect this is no coincidence. Edition of 96 on Plague Recordings with free sticker. Quality gear.

What the label says:

Reissue of Plague's cult debut release. Silkscreened CDr in graphite e-jector case, strictly limited to 96 numbered copies. Sticker included.
The duration of the tracks refers to the number 23 and its various interpretations in both, numerology and religion. Names of artists are kept confidential due to possible rights-issues.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
