Temperatures / Mobile Unit 'Split' 7" (Heat Retention) Fans of the German motorik groove will love the loose limbed flow of the Temperatures side of this jam packed shared vinyl effort. The Mobile Unit side is improvised Rock of the chugging, echo and reverb drenched style familiar to fans of No Neck Blues, Sunburned Hand of The Man and the free rock fraternity. Recommended! The freaked-out space jam presented on this disc entitled "Kakorr" was recorded on the fly sometime last year in a boho garret in South London. Bass fuzz and synth tones collide saturating all detail over some serious voodoo percussion. As the track breaks down the whole mix transforms into red-hot lava and all hope for reaching land is lost. This is their second appearance on record and is even more fried than their self-titled debut 7" released in 2005.
Mobile Unit are also a duo from London. This track, their debut release "We live in our own world, but that's ok they know us here" references the title track of Kraftwerk's "Autobahn", in particular the opening line "Wir fahr'n fahr'n fahr'n auf der autobahn" and wordless tracks like David Crosby's "Song with No Words (Tree with No Leaves)" or easy listening maestro Ray Conniff's "super market music". With 4 minutes of da, da, da's and doo, doo, doo's, bam, bam, bam's and boom, boom, boom's, Mobile Unit set out to compose music in the vein of the popular song but without the emotional or judgmental burden of lyrics.
