More indie! Good lord! Gothenberg's Agent Simple are up for perusal now with their 'Shaking an Egg' 7" EP. Now this is really cool. Nice sing-song girly lyrics with a bittersweet content, joyous kitchen sink percussion, maracas, whistling, that lovely old shambling, chiming guitar that Half Man Half Biscuit used to deliver. The second track has a lead male vocal reminiscent of Calvin Johnson, even the tune sounds like it has been farmed on early 90s 'K' records. The lady's backing vocals are sublime and complement his Calvinisms beautifully, on the splendid 3rd track too. (I just got a CDr with no tracktitles, sorry!) She returns to the main mic for the final tune which is just good Swede pop, a little Cardigans-esque with a dash of Smiths. A perfectly formed treat with real feeling and soul. If you dig scando-pop then this must be your pick for the week!Shaking an egg is a pop journey with Agent Simple. Agent Simple knows how to make pop songs, and here are four memorable songs for you to sing along to. On this record his dark voice is mixed with the wonderful voice from Formelette, and they sound great together. This is the first release on Fridlyst a.k.a. Open Field. The ep comes with a screenprinted cover and it´s limited to 500 copies. Shaking an egg is Agent Simple's second release, following up the "I got mad at the kids "ep.
