'Jesus Saves, I Spend' is the second single from St. Vincent's debut long player 'Marry Me'. This is Anne Clark, guitarist from The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens touring band. 7" only on Beggars Banquet. It's a perculiar pop record with the constant "bom bom bom" vocal in the background giving it a christmas feel. I reckon she's kind of talented. There are some pleasant strings going on and all. With a name like St. Vincent and a song about Jesus we're beginning to wonder if she's a church goer. The B-side is a cover of Nico's 'These Days'. The production sound has clearly been worked on to give it that dusty sound. She really does have a sweet voice which actually sounds like Nico at various moments. Spooky!St. Vincent is the band of singer-multi-instrumentalist, Annie Clark.
The 23- year old is a veteran guitarist for two musical armies, The
Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Steven's touring band.
