St Vincent - Jesus Saves, I Spend

Jesus Saves, I Spend by St Vincent

4...according to our on Thu 22 Nov, 2007.

'Jesus Saves, I Spend' is the second single from St. Vincent's debut long player 'Marry Me'. This is Anne Clark, guitarist from The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens touring band. 7" only on Beggars Banquet. It's a perculiar pop record with the constant "bom bom bom" vocal in the background giving it a christmas feel. I reckon she's kind of talented. There are some pleasant strings going on and all. With a name like St. Vincent and a song about Jesus we're beginning to wonder if she's a church goer. The B-side is a cover of Nico's 'These Days'. The production sound has clearly been worked on to give it that dusty sound. She really does have a sweet voice which actually sounds like Nico at various moments. Spooky!

St. Vincent is the band of singer-multi-instrumentalist, Annie Clark.  The 23- year old is a veteran guitarist for two musical armies, The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Steven's touring band.
•‘Jesus Saves, I Spend’ is the second single to be lifted from St. Vincent’s debut album ‘Marry Me’.  •It is backed by exclusive track ‘These Days’, a cover of the Jackson Browne-penned song made famous by Nico. The single will be available on 7” vinyl.
•St. Vincent will be touring UK and Ireland this autumn, playing solo as support to The National, followed by headline shows with a full band for the first time in the UK.
