What we say

Rating: unmoved This record left our Mingus Rude feeling unmoved.

Electrelane: 'In Berlin' (Too Pure) Sounds like they're hovering over Eastern Europe with their angelic tones and whispy, chiming tinkles. When the beat kicks in the tempo seems to increase and the addition of strings evoke the ghost of Stereolab (sez Ant).

What the label says:

2007 has been a busy year for Electrelane. 'No Shouts, No Calls', their fourth and most personal album to date, was released in Springtime and the band toured extensively, visiting Japan, Europe and America (to a rapturous response), as well as effortlessly bagging some rather coveted shows this side of the pond, supporting Arcade Fire at Brixton Academy, Maximo Park at Astoria and Beastie Boys at their recent Roundhouse gig.
•Now Electrelane return to their homelands for a set of UK dates including their biggest headlining London show to date at Koko.
•To mark the tour, Electrelane are releasing ‘In Berlin’, the mesmerizing album track that perfectly epitomizes how Electrelane’s signature edge and atmosphere, and Verity’s now ethereal vocals, can be channeled into a work of pure melodic and gentle beauty. B-side ‘Sea Of The Edge’ is a brand new semi-instrumental track where the searing harmonies spiral alongside the music in an hypnotic journey where once again Electrelane’s skilled musicianship and ability to create otherworldly sound-scapes is triumphantly highlighted.•

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.

'if you blow dry water will it go frizzy?'
