Esther Ofarim - In New York With Bobby Scott & His Orchestra

In New York With Bobby Scott & His Orchestra by Esther Ofarim

Reissue of the 1965 album "Is It Really Me"  Debut by Esther Ofarim featuring evergreens
    from US musicals and shows.
Israeli diva Esther Ofarim began recording in the late 1950s and put out records in several
styles throughout her career, including folk, novelty, and orchestrated
folk-pop-classical-rock in the style of Judy Collins. Ofarim is best known in the UK for the
one hit wonder "Cinderella Rockafella," (recorded as part of a duo with her then husband
Abi). OFARIM's first solo album rarely appears in discographies but she considers it one of
her finest records. BOBBY SCOTT, 1937-1990, musician, arranger & composer ("A Taste
Of Honey", "Chain Gang"). Deluxe packaging and the booklet features three articles (in
German and English): Liner notes by James Gavin (a friend of Bobby Scott's). Original liner
notes by Bobby Scott. An interview with Esther Ofarim, conducted specially for this reissue.

Hamburg's small but beautiful label, Bureau B, always on the search for exciting music
hidden away in dusty record company archives, has, once again, unearthed an absolute
gem. Their latest discovery is the re-issue of the 1965 ESTHER OFARIM album "Is It Really
     Me".

ESTHER OFARIM, born in Israel in 1941, her career took her all around the world in the
1960s, accompanied by her husband ABI (ABRAHAM) OFARIM.  In 1965 BOBBY SCOTT
recorded the exceptional singer in New York, where ESTHER mastered soulful ballads as
easily as swinging up-tempo tracks, dreamy fantasies or blithe pop songs. Continuing the
theme of "In New York" productions on the Bureau B imprint, this CD carries the title
ESTHER OFARIM IN NEW YORK. In an interview conducted exclusively for this re-release,
OFARIM reveals that she considers this to be one of her finest albums. The release
features a bonus track (also recorded in 1964 with Bobby Scott) and comes in a digipack,
complete with a comprehensive booklet featuring previously unpublished phototgraphs,
detailed liner notes and three articles in German and English (liner notes by James Gavin
    - a friend of Bobby Scott's, original liner notes by Bobby Scott, & an interview with Esther
