ISAN, Lali Puna, Various - A Number of Small Things

A Number of Small Things by ISAN, Lali Puna, Various

- At long last, Morr's 'A Number of Small Things' series comes to the CD format, compiling all the 7"s so far, from artists such as LALI PUNA, ISAN,
B. FLEISCHMANN, ELECTRIC PRESIDENT, POPULOUS, BENNI HEMM BEMM and many more!

- An extra treat is to be found in the six new songs available here, also available as 7" singles on the same release date as this compilation:
- BUTCHER THE BAR: Get Away/Leave This Town (ANOST 017)
- SEAVAULT: The Mercy Seat/I Could Be Happy (ANOST 015)
- SEABEAR: Teenage Kicks/Piano Hands (ANOST 014)

(Seabear? Teenage Kicks?! Whats not to like?!?!)
Morr Music: the record label, the meeting point for like-minded musicians, the institution. Since 1991, with Berliner Thomas Morr at the helm, Morr has
consistently released the best of pop-fused electronica, persisting with its trademark sound and aesthetic whilst still, to this day, bringing something
different to the table with every release. With their little-sister label, A Number of Small Things, artists are only given two sides of 7" vinyl to work their
magic, forcing them to be more concise and accurate than ever. Starting with B. Fleischmann (an institution in himself) in autumn 2001, the series
went from strength to strength with Lali Puna, Styrofoam, Isan and many more continuing the positive trend.
But, as previously stated, all these releases existed only in the vinyl domain, and those unfortunate enough not to own a table were left stranded…until
now! At long last, six years after the series started, every single track has been compiled for your digital listening pleasure.
Starting with six new tracks (which are to be released on the same day as this compilation via three more 7"s) from Benni Hemm Hemm along with two
new faces, Butcher the Bar and Seavault, along the way you will be happy to find Smog and Brian Ferry covers (from John & Yoko and Masha Qrella
respectively) nestled gently next to Satie inspired ditties from Isan or hard-to-find remixes of Lali Puna.

I`m a sucker for all things Morr Music but I really love the amazing growth of this label- Seavault and Butcher the bar are superb new signings, that sit alongside old favorites like Lali Puna, Benni Hemm Hemm and Isan etc. The packaging is genius and Thirty plus tracks has inspired me to buy this for everyone I know for Xmas!

Seavault are an amazing blast of guitar textured electronica that I`m sure could be bigger than any of the old roster and butcher the bar give us an exciting laid back slice of indie folk. The sheer depth of these bands music and agility (see Isan`s Satie covers) make this another essential purchase from Morr Music. Seems odd to be smiling so hard at Bryan Ferry, Altered Images and Smog covers but not really as Morr once again have given me value for money.

Looking forward to the future of this quality label!
