Boris with Merzbow - Rock Dream

Rock Dream by Boris with Merzbow

4...according to our on Thu 29 Nov, 2007.

Japanese noise / rock heavyweights Boris and Merzbow are back with their third collaboration and its a good one. 'Rock Dream' has all the psychedelic prog elements of the previous albums. At times sounding like pink Floyd there's a real trippy druggy vibe but it builds in intensity and heaviness with the drums sounding kick ass as fuck. Proper slamming. The band take the lead with Masami Akita providing shards of white noise and overloaded distortion. A mammoth of a mammoth thing. 'Rock Dream' is a suitable title. Edition of 5000 CD's on Southern Lord who will no doubt issue it on vinyl after you've already bought it on CD. They're buggers for that.

Japanese power trio Boris return with another limited offering!
This time round its a live, psychedelic, mind expanding collaboration with the legendary Japanese master of
abrasion: Merzbow!
Very special limited release. Only 5,000 units in total will be manufactured for the world. All copies are machine
numbered.
What makes the Boris w/ Merzbow collaboration particularly interesting is that both Boris and Merzbow seem to leave behind the expected to fully embrace the unknown. The usually harsh, corrosive grate of Merzbow is not as apparent with Boris involved. Also the inspired charge of the Boris rock machine seems to reach new heights with Merzbows’ intuitive textures added. This is however not entirely free-form. In fact the structure of this is what sets it apart from the majority of Merzbow related releases and collaborations.
Elaborate and beautifully packaged in a sturdy 5 inch mini-gatefold fold out die-cut jacket with printed inner-sleeves. Designed by Stephen O’Malley (sunn 0)))).
As with other Boris limited items this will be in high demand and sell out immediately.
