Rephlex are putting out a 2CD compilation of all of Bochum Welt's material for the label. As a taster there's a limited 10" sampler 'Robotic Operating Buddy'. This is early to mid nineties classic sounding electronics with a fat break beat Aphex-ish melodies and a synth that reminds me of the Gak EP on Warp. Deep warm and spacey. Hits the spot first thing this morning I tell thee. The exciting thing about this is the Heinrich Muller remix on the flip. For those uninitiated this is another pseydonym of Gerald Donald AKA Dopplereffekt, Arpanet, Japanese Telecom, Der Zyklus etc. Everything this guy touches just turns into sonic gold. His rework here is an ice cool, crisp electro cut with magical atmospherics, and gorgeous strings. This is ace.

Bochum Welt is one of the original gang of Rephlex Braindancers and has released several works on the label since 1994. He is well renown in the Electro(nic)/ Techno world as a consummate producer with a delicate touch producing music akin to Kraftwerk, Human League, Aphex Twin and Drexciya.
This EP serves to promote his forthcoming album on Rephlex, entitled "Robotic Operating Buddy", a CD-only double disc set featuring his entire Rephlex back catalogue plus a clutch of new material.
On the A-Side we hear a haunting melodic breakbeat number, whereas the B-Side features an exclusive scientific remix by Heinrich Mueller, CEO of the Dataphysix Institute, who have released classic albums under the monikers of
Dopplereffekt, Arpanet, Der Zyklus & Japanese Telecom among others.
