An Emergency: 'I Don't Think Tom Cruise Is Real?' / 'Avec Pleasure' Breakneck Static: 'Fragile Appearance' / 'Break The Pattern' (Vacuous Pop) The two Shellac fan boys in the office are comparing the angular guitar riffige on the first side of this split 7" by An Emergency and Breakneck Static, whilst the official press notes quote Hot Snakes or Q and Not U. I think heavy and athletic. The flip from the Brit / Jap team starts out with a dirty bass guitar riff that breaks up into splinters of shrieked vocals, highly frenetic, amphetamine fueled guitars and flaying drums with a nod towards Melt Banana or Deerhoof. Too much crisps and coke methinks. Hand numbered, limited to 500.An Emergency - I Don't Think Tom Cruise is Real / Avec Pleasure

Breakneck Static
Breakneck Static are an Anglo-Japanese noise band based in London, these tracks featuring former vocalist Machiko calling to mind comparisons with the likes of Melt Banana and Deerhoof. Dischordant, jarring, anti-rock of the highest order they've been described as the bastard child of Melt Banana.
