What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Ant feeling happy.

Zombi main man Steve Moore's album 'The Henge' that came out on Relapse is out on lush silver vinyl through Static Caravan / Relapse. You may remember the Zombi 12" 'Digitalis' he did a bit ago. Basically if you like progressive electronics with a slight 70's Jean Michel Jarre / Italo horror / Zombie movie / John Carpenter sound then you need this in your life. Bits of Tangerine Dream and Goblin in there as well. He's a talented synth guy that's well worth checking out. Supercool.

What the label says:

Static Caravan will issue The Henge on October 30th on a limited 500 vinyl  edition on steel grey wax. The Henge was self-recorded and the CD layout and design was also created by Moore.Steve Moore is one half of Zombi. The band’s previous release on Static Caravan sold out in a flash with punters still hunting down copies. Vibes and chatter are not liable to stop soon either with Prins Thomas releasing ‘Sapphire’ on his latest compilation and The Rapture on the cusp of releasing a 12” on their own new imprint. The Henge was self-recorded by Moore and he describes The Henge and his approach; “This album represents a turning point in my writing - a subtle shift in direction that is only apparent when considering the album as a whole.  While no track is too far removed from the harmonic language I create through my work with Zombi, this album gives me a chance to expand my tonal palette by experimenting with different instrumentations.” “The album is meant to be viewed as a small step in a new direction, exploring some of the more ambient, drone-oriented ideas I've written over the last couple years.” Moore continues; “Although I always enjoy collaborative writing, the challenge of single-handedly developing an idea from conception to completion can sometimes be an even more rewarding experience.” In addition to his works with ZOMBI, Moore has also recorded material with MICROWAVES and PANTHERS, as well as been involved in a number of scores for independent horror movies including ‘The Redsin Tower’ (collaboration with Scott Hull (of PIG DESTROYER, AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED), ‘Horror Business’, ‘Murder-Set-Pieces’ (as ZOMBI), ‘Home Sick’ (as ZOMBI) and more. Additionally, Moore has scheduled his first live appearance performing tracks from The Henge for Friday, October 19 as he opens for WITHCRAFT and WOLVES IN THE THRONEROOM at Death By Audio in Brooklyn, NY. For fans of John Carpenter soundtracks, Tangerine Dream, Goblin,  Rush, OM and Sun)))000 500 only vinyl edition on steel grey wax in gloss UV sleeves.

About the humble LP:

The LP is the daddy of formats. 12" inches of sheer joy. The LP adds to the glory of the 12" record as it can be played at a slower speed (33rpm instead of the usual 45rpm for singles), consequently more musical joy can be had. Played on a decent deck the sound of an LP is about a million times better than any other format. They look fantastic...... a nice gatefold sleeve with a information rich inner sleeve will keep you entertained for hours even before your stylus has chance to make eye contact with it's 12" prey. An essential part of musical heritage which will never be forgotten. It still does play at a multitude of speeds but as it's recorded to be played slower they normally sound ridiculous sped up. Though double albums can make up for this slight inadequacy by ramming more tunes into your ears for your money. Utterly essential.
