Bass Clef
Zamyatin Tapes Vol 2

This record left our Susan feeling happy.
Bass Clef - Zamyatin Tapes Vol 2- 12" only- A side - a cross between MIA minus the vocals to start with, then becomes more bassy. Resonant of early hip hop, the repetitive beats are interspersed with trancy, chill out riffs - takes me back to the quiet / come down rooms at Cream in the early 90's. B side - more repetitive knocks and bangs with a catchy sing-a-long base line almost like a no word football chant. I like. Would do my head in if it was more than 2 songs.

What their label says...
Second vinyl installement in the Zamyatin Tapes project from Bass Clef.
Carnaval vibes a-plenty in this strange other-worldy roller from the Clef to the Bass this time. Name-checking
everyone’s favourite redundant BT service, ’1471’ is the closing line in Mr Cumbers defense against the ’dubstep’ tag.
Bashment by Autchre is the only way to describe ’Ballad...’, a thunderously hooky beat acting as the chorus that would’ve been sung by a warrior queen in a pulp sci-fi novel.
’Eight Zero Eight’ from the debut Bass Clef album, ’A Smile Is A Curve...’ makes a cameo in the final scene; a beautiful electro-bass shocker of the likes DJ Shadow would’ve been proud of.
Tracklisting; A1, 1471. B1, Ballad Of The Broken 606. B2, Eight Zero Eight.
