Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta - Ragged Garden

Ragged Garden by Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta

Fire Records have put out the long playing debut of Gerry Mitchell's collaboration with Little Sparta. If you're familiar with this pairings work then you'll know what to expect here. It's a dark brew of black spoken word/ poetry and mournful strings. Mitchell's vocal is both charismatic and deeply meaningful. The strings add a sense of hope to the drama and can make it feel uplifting at the most somber of times. Very good indeed.

“William Burroughs meets the Dirty Three” WIRE “Little Sparta’s set definitely raised the standard” www.latitudefestival.co.uk/"...these collaborators feed off of each other in strange ways, with an edge that keeps this from just poetry set to music.."   PitchforkWith recent concerts at Latitude festival and the Tate Britain, this international collective brings the follow up to Scalpel Slice (7.5/10 Pitchfork). The return of Gerry Mitchell’s collaboration with Little Sparta (featuring Susie Honeyman of the Mekons) includes the cult single 'Feasting On My Heart' (Single Of The Week in Playlouder, Norman Records AND Boomkat). This album will be preceded by a 7” release of the single featuring a fresh, genre-defying dancefloor remix by Various Productions.
