Animal Collective: 'Fireworks' (Domino) You know what? the more I hear this lot the more I'm getting into them. I think it's the fact that they're totally themselves and once you've got an angle on their off kilter layering of FX, vocals and traditional instrumentation -the way the pianos and guitars meld into the vocals and chugging serial lines. It's definitely the sound of mates enjoying themselves jamming, free-forming around loose ideas. More of a polished poppy version of Black Dice with a eye on the Billboard charts of yesteryear. Swirling percussive vibes, highly melodic refrains and just the right side of totally mad. One sided ten inch press on lovely putrid pink vinyl with an etching on the flip. Crazy lovely! What the label says:The Animal Collective return with ‘Fireworks’, the kaleidoscopic second single from the band’s latest album, ‘Strawberry Jam’.
