Caetano Veloso: 'Araca Azul' (Lilith) A reissue from 1972, Veloso was a mainstay of the Brazilian Tropicalia movement. By turns equally bonkers and sublime, this is billed as his most experimental outing. Takes in some freeform singing and whistling over what sound like Bahia folk forms moving further out towards the more familiar territory of his Tropcalia output. So, fuzzed out guitars rubbing up against acoustics, traditional percussion and the samba made famous from this islands neverending supply of musical styles and genres. Those of you who bought Soul Jazz's recent Tropicalia overviews will thrill to the delights of these sun drenched sounds.Be the first to review this record.
