We Start Fires blue vinyl 7" single ' Let's Get Our Hands dirty' immediately reminds me of Garbage. Not the stinking stuff you chuck in the bin but the band. It has that early to mid nineties female fronted indie rock sound. Like less aggressive Hole. My brother used to start fire when we were kids. I used to rule. He'd get some matches off big boys the light lots of gors bushes up in smoke then get the fire brigade to come and then help them put it out with these big beaters. Fun that was.

LET’S GET OUR HANDS DIRTY IS THE THIRD SINGLE, FROM WE START FIRE’S SELF TITLED DEBUT ALBUM, SET FOR RELEASE STRAIGHT AFTER THEIR UK TOUR. THE RECORD WAS RECORDED BY PAT COLLIER (JESUS AND MARY CHAIN).
BOTH PREVIOUS SINGLES, MAGAZINE AND PLAY YOU, WERE AWARDED SINGLE OF THE WEEK BY VARIOUS MAGAZINES AND RADIOS SHOWS. IN NME’S SINGLE OF THE WEEK FOR PLAY YOU THEY SAID ‘WE CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING WE’D RATHER DO THAN PLAY THIS’ AND THAT IT MADE THEM WANT TO ‘UPPERCUT THE SUN, OR HEADLOCK THE MOON’. THE SAME SINGLE WAS ON XFM, VIRGIN, RADIO 1 & 2 AND 6MUSIC TO NAME BUT A FEW, WHILST THE VIDEO WAS PLAYLISTED ON MTV2’S 120 MINUTES AND NME’S HOT ONE.
FOR THE B-SIDE MANHATTAN CLIQUE HAVE MADE A SEVEN AND A HALF MINUTE REMIX OF THE TITLE TRACK WHICH IS ALREADY BEING PLAYED IN CLUBS, WITH GREAT REACTIONS BY DJS AND THE PUBLIC ALIKE, UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY.
