South Rakkas Crew - The Mix Up

The Mix Up by South Rakkas Crew

4...according to our on Wed 24 Oct, 2007.

Swiftly moving onto the South Rakkas Crew who have an album out on Mad Decent Records. This is some lively dancehall party gear which would be recommended for all ass shaking events. Miami Bass meets dancehall says Mingus.... his ass is all over the shop now... There's ass everywhere!

Orlando's South Rakkas Crew are known as one of the most innovative production teams in the dancehall business, releasing international hits like the Clappas and Bionic Ras riddims with sounds that have as much to do with Miami bass and electro as they do with traditional reggae. Combine those unique sounds with the South Rakkas' super smart production techniques (much more complex than your average riddim) and you have the most forward thinking team in dancehall. Makes sense that they should team up with Diplo’s Mad Decent label for ‘The Mix Up’. These tracks take their genre-free approach to dancehall to the fullest, coming with 10 pieces that will appeal to selectors right across the club spectrum. Featuring dancehall versions of rave classics, Sesame Street bangers, disco vocals and steppers r&b, plus certified remakes of dancehall faves like ‘Under Mi Sensi’, undefinable madness like ‘Hot Patty’ and much more. This is not another riddim album; each track here is an individual song, with vocals from Capleton, Mr Vegas, TOK and more. Already causing a big buzz online, this is some of the freshest, most brain popping music you will hear all year.
