Another momentus,captivating 4 minutes from one of Sunderland's favourite sons, ShortTerm,LongTerm is This Aint Vegas at their uncomparable best. Whilst being the most commercial output to date it is another reminder that this band is a forerunner in the delivery of uplifting and intelligent music. Mixing fantastic fretwork with dual vocals will sure win them some much deserved national praise and hopefully see them in venues that fit the magnitude of their work. This Ain't Vegas have a 7" out on The Longest Mile (chap from The Futureheads label) and it reminds me of The Alarm and Big Country though not as commercial sounding. Same big sound and pounding big ass rock drums. Bizarrely enough it's not that bad which does come as a surprise to me. Short Term, Long term is 7" only! About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
