What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Ant feeling ecstatic.

Man of the moment Rick Tomlinson A.K.A Voice Of The Seven Woods has a 10" Twisted Nerve with a brill trippy sleeve. 'The Holy Harbour' has his trademark psychedelic guitar that sounds as if it was recorded 40 years ago. I'm getting a bit of a Spanish feeling from this not a million miles away from Sir Richard Bishop. Mingus say Iberian which is probably more on the money. The addition of brass and drums on this record compliment his playing perfectly.

What the label says:

A brand new 10” from acidic folk merchant and Ash Ra Temple-dweller Voice Of The Seven Woods.
For these eagerly awaited solo sessions he has enlisted the skills of a drummer in a quest to create the authentic sound typified by the likes of Terry Cox in Pentangle with an added rhythmic influence of Turkish psychedelic bands first heard in the mid 70's.  Drummer, Chris Walmsley, who has recorded with forward thinking groups like Broadcast and as part of Jane Weaver and the Meadows, and upright bass player Paul Blakesley are the perfect reactionary accompaniment to Rick’s sporadic flirtations with time and tempo.
Available on highly collectable limited edition 10” vinyl

About the humble 10":

The 10" sits somewhere in between the 7" and 10" (kind of like a wierd cousin). This awkward variant exists for no other reason aside from to be different from it's other family members. It can provide less music than a 12" but more than a 7". It's almost like a budget 12" or a posh 7". Either way it's wierd and it needs sorting out. Maybe it's quirkyness has helped it carry on defying all rules and convention? Importantly though it plays at a multitude of speeds so it is still quintessentially a total bargain (albeit a total freak of a bargain).
