OVERVIEW: The brainchild of multi instrumentalist and producer Demian Castellanos, The Oscillation has risen out of the ashes of the critically acclaimed Orichalc Phase, whose two 12" only releases for DC Recordings in 2006 have already generated a cult following. The tracks on "Out Of Phase" show an artist who is as comfortable making pop songs as expansive psychedelic freakouts. Tracks like "Respond In Silence" demand comparison with the harder edge of the 70’s krautrock scene. The lambent vocal tones of "Hear Your Sadness" recall bands like Spiritualized or Loop at their most medicated, "Liquid Memoryman" like The Ruts battling their way out of an echo chamber to a background of white noise. The single "Head Hang Low", is a blissed out reworking of Julian Cope's moribund ballad from 1984 newly rendered by Castellanos into a bitter sweet dose of pop melancholia. The single will be released as a limited etched 7" on 8th October. Having already worked with such luminaries as producer Tim Holmes from Death In Vegas, as well as a new forthcoming project with a member of Chrome Hoof, Castellanos' position amongst the cream of the UK's music fraternity will seem inevitable to anyone who hears The Oscillation.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'What is the voice of song, when the world lacks the ear of taste?'
