Serj Tankian - Empty Walls

Empty Walls by Serj Tankian

OVERVIEW: SERJ TANKIAN frontman with multi-million selling System Of A Down, releases Empty Walls in October 15th. 'Empty Walls' is the first single to be taken from his debut Solo album 'Elect The Dead', out October 22nd. Recorded in Tankian's home studio, 'Elect The Dead' was entirely self-produced and self-recorded except for guest appearances from former Primus and GNR drummer Bryan 'Brain' Mantia and System Of A Down's John Dolmayan. System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian is confirmed to play his debut UK solo dates in November – with headline shows and main support with Foo Fighters. "I was writing more traditional type songs on my piano and acoustic guitar, with almost a classical to operatic flavour, and low and behold, it ended up being a rock record", he explains. "There is more instrumental depth – more pianos, acoustics and string arrangements. Stylistically it touches upon classical & Spanish gypsy vibes while still remaining schizophrenic & dramatic within a single song". "There are political songs, funny songs, love songs, songs of painful experiences, vanity, & the environment", he adds. "It has a deep melancholy that runs from the personal to the global, with a glimmer of hope in the solidarity of spirit". With System of a Down, Tankian has sold 25-million albums to date with 2005's 'Mesmerize' peaking at #2 in the UK.
