Cristine:'Cross The Line' (Mute Irregulars) Where raucous, grungy rock meets raw synth swirls over an incessant, chant-along vocal line. Is this the sort of pop made by kids who have just got what both Suicide and The Stooges were up to? Yeah, raw uncompromising digital dirge and animal drums. The flip is a Jesus & Mary Chain style wall of noise with a melody buried in the mix.‘Cross The Line’, which comes backed with ‘Use’, is released on limited 7” vinyl and download and is the fourth release from the fledgling Mute imprint.
Cristine, the solo project of Parisian, Stephane B. L. Cristine (Vocals, Keyboard, Guitar), has been playing shows in and around London over the last 6 months since arriving in the capital from France. Live shows are intense and see Stephane joined on stage with a line up of Robert S. (Drums), Tree (Guitar & backing vocals) and James C. (Guitar).
Set up by teen supreme Sam Kilcoyne of Underage Club, Andy Fraser and Barry 7, over the coming months, Mute Irregulars will follow recent singles from XX TEENS and TINY MASTERS OF TODAY with a batch of stunning debuts from THE BROKEN HEARTS and SPIDER AND THE FLIES, the new offshoot project from THE HORRORS.

Cross The Line is the best post punk single I've heard all year. Saw Cristine play at the Old Blue Last and their wall of sound was amazing. Their female guitar player is phenomenal AND hot!
