Awake In A White Chapel by Thingumajigsaw

Interesting name of the goes to Thingumajigsaw with their CD on Deserted Village called 'Awake In A White Chapel'. This is a great debut from these Norwegian Folksters.... Extremely fragile sounding folk music with it's core being banjo (or ukelele... I can never tell) and some delicate arrangements placed over them like the best hat ever. I love hats. It's quite a remarkable debut with one track sounding like Philip Glass played with banjos and flutes. At times I'm reminded of Sufjan Stevens on the odd track.... Adrian Crowley as well.... It's extremely delicate beautiful music. Well recommended!!

We are very excited to be releasing the Debut album from this Norwegian splatterfolk duo.

This album has been described as not only a masterpiece, but "a masterpiece and a half". It is produced by the eminent Nicky Coghlan, and it features twelve original compositions, one cover of Daniel Johnston's "walking the cow", and liner-notes by the legendary Mike "Sport" Murphy. Original artwork by Little Myth Epiphanymph. The album is beautiful, fragile, introverted and delightfully puzzling.

Two elusive, exceptional, pivotal personalities - cunningly spinning a web of flamboyant brouhahas within the idiom of their own device: charming, clever, generous, sinister splatterfolk.

Splatterfolk combines elements of traditional Irish/British/American folk with contemporary art music, and spices it up with lyrical and musical components usually associated with horror films, experimental theatre and modernistic poetry. There is also an abundance of film and popcultural references. It's the new revolution within the folk music - scene of today, and you will find no finer exponents of this subversive art than Thinguma*jigSaw.
