MWVM
Rotations

This record left our Ant feeling happy.
Apparently MWVM is some dude from County Durham. His album called 'Rotations' is for fans of Stars Of The Lid, Eluvium and Aarktica. Now for those of you who know and adore those artists the names alone will probably be enough to sell you this. It's that sweet brand of gear where post rock and ambient melt seamlessly into one another. Proper floaty business.

What their label says...
mwvm is Michael Walton, an electronic musician based in County Durham
in the United Kingdom. He officially started mwvm in the fall of 2005, but
experiments with delay pedals & home recording date back to 1996. He has
spent the last few years refining his sound; focusing on guitar manipulation,
repetition, & ambience. His minimalist creations are produced in a selfinduced
solitary environment; but within this isolation, he has found his music
to capture the interest of a large audience both nationally & internationally.
mwvm’s pieces are carved out of haunting glissando melodies that intertwine through
layers of harmonics, warm swells, & textured static. The sounds are built around guitars
that could be mistaken for keyboards in the classic Silber tradition of Remora, Aarktica,
Lycia, & If Thousands.
The initial release of mwvm’s demos in 2006 found critical acclaim on internet mainstays
like Unpeeled & Brainwashed & garnished attention from several indie labels. 2006 also
marked mwvm starting to go out of the studio & into the live environment playing festivals
in the UK. The live experiences helped Walton to further realize his sounds & led to his
debut full-length Rotations, a soothing & intriguing collection of indie ambient that
sounds like a flash-frozen waterfall melting back to life.
