You Are Not Me/ You Think You're Funny by The Chapman Family

The Chapman Family have a 7" out on Don't Tell Claire Records called 'You Are Not Me'. This is some crazed quirky indie punk which reminds me a bit of Maximo Park on steroids. Honest.

You Are Not Me is the debut single from The Chapman Family and is available through a limited run of 500 pastel pink vinyl 7"s, each individually numbered with a hand painted sleeve by a member of the family. Formed just over a year ago in the grim north of England, The Chapman Family have already featured on compilation CDs for Dance To The Radio, Artrocker, NARC Magazine, and for Firestation Records in Germany. They have toured relentlessly since their conception preaching their own particular brand of family values up and down the Britain supporting the likes of The Enemy, 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster and Reverend and The Makers on the way.  "High speed jitter-pop destined to get every discerning indie kid shaking their denim clad hips." NME "It’s a brutally hard noise...what strikes is the sheer momentum that the Chapman’s generate. They motor along in a blur of anger." Artrocker
In addition to airplay on college radio in the USA and mainland Europe, The Chapman Family have been getting regular radio play with unreleased tracks on various local stations in their native north east where they are fast building a rabid fan base, (the bands’ t-shirts emblazoned with "THE CHAPMAN FAMILY IS NOT A CULT" are permanently in demand). You Are Not Me / You Think You're Funny was produced by Phil Davies who also produces Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens’ faves Das Wanderlust. This release sees the sound taking a darker direction and captures The Chapman Family's machine-like performances and twisted humour.

The vinyl is bright PINK by the way - that's rather exciting isn't it? I should know, I made the bleedin thing!

Suppose we do sound a bit like MaxPark (can't be helped, Paul Smith is from a neighbouring town!) but live we sound alot more punk rock so if you get a chance to see us live please do, but don't expect the most polished performance in the world!
