Globo &Telemark - Whip It/ The Day My Baby Gave me A Surprise

Whip It/ The Day My Baby Gave me A Surprise by Globo &Telemark

This single is the third in the ‘Hydrogen Dukebox Sing & Play’
series – following on from A1 People’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’
and Metamatics’ ‘Personal Jesus’. These tracks will culminate in
‘Sing & Play’ album in the new year, once joined by a further few
covers from the Hydrogen roster.
Globo’s connection with Devo doesn’t go so far as this cover alone.
The band’s first performance since 1996 took place last year when
they were responsible for bringing Devo’s very own Mark
Mothersbaugh’s first full art exhibition to the UK – the Globo
performance at the launch included a live internet link-up with
Mothersbaugh in his studio in Los Angeles.
Often compared to and mistaken for the likes of Underworld and
Orbital, Globo’s live performance-minded live show always set
them apart. A style that has been adopted by the current crop of
indie-dance bands doing the rounds today. This record should
appeal to a cross section of fans both from the band’s past and also
the younger fans of this new wave of bands a la Klaxons, Hot Chip
etc
