What the label says:Originally released in 2000 now reissued on “a records” Anton Newcombe’s own record label with new artwork . Taking into consideration the last time we heard from the Brian Jonestown Massacre (1999's one-off EP of country-folk ramblings, Bringing It All Back Home Again), longtime fans of the BJM might still be a little taken aback by the songs on this 36-minute EP at first, as this is somewhat of a departure from what BJM shaman and group leader Anton Newcombe has previously written and recorded with a revolving-door membership of sidemen and -women. Newcombe opted to exercise a clause in his contract that allows him to release material on his own Bomp!-distributed Committee to Keep Music Evil imprint. That is why the title and artwork (with its colorful pinwheel flowers) goes out of its way to imply that there are "zero" songs from the album Bravery included here. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a psychedelic rock band originally from San Francisco, California, led by guitarist/singer Anton Newcombe. With The Dandy Warhols, The Brian Jonestown Massacre is one of the subjects of the documentary DIG!, winner of the 2004 Grand Jury Prize Documentary at Sundance. DIG! is also a part of the Permanent Collection of the NY Museum of Modern Art. Since the release of DIG!, the band has achieved increasing critical acclaim and recognition, and has performed at Cochella and Lollapalooza in 2005 with special mentions from the NY Times and Washington Post. They have also toured the UK, Japan, Australia, as well as Continental Europe |
